BUK Reopens UTME Screening Portal for Eligible 2026 Candidates
Bayero University, Kano (BUK) has reopened its undergraduate screening process for eligible candidates who participated in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The development gives qualified candidates another opportunity to complete the BUK Admission Screening Exercise (BUKAT) for the 2026/2027 academic session before the latest deadline.
The university’s official screening portal currently indicates that payment for the registration has been extended until Sunday, October 4, 2026. BUK had previously announced an extension of the BUKAT and Direct Entry screening exercises in September following an outage on the Remita payment platform, which affected candidates’ ability to complete payment and registration.
The screening exercise is intended for candidates who selected Bayero University as their first-choice institution and meet the minimum UTME score specified for their chosen programme. The required scores differ across programmes, meaning candidates should confirm the requirement applicable to their course before completing the screening process. BUK’s current online screening system requires candidates to log in with their UTME number and UTME score.
Candidates are also required to ensure that their O’Level results have been uploaded to the JAMB portal. BUK’s screening portal warns that JAMB will not clear shortlisted candidates who do not have their O’Level results available. Candidates with results from WAEC, NECO or other accepted examinations should therefore ensure that their credentials are properly uploaded before the admission process progresses.
Eligible candidates who have not completed their registration should use the remaining period to finish the required steps and confirm their payment status. Candidates should also provide accurate information during registration because discrepancies in UTME or academic records can affect subsequent admission processing.
The reopening provides another opportunity for eligible 2026 UTME candidates to complete the BUK screening process. Candidates are advised to pay attention to the October 4 deadline displayed on the official portal and continue checking Bayero University’s official communication channels for any further admission updates or instructions.
