Applications are now open for the TWAS Research Professors in Least Developed Countries (LDCs) programme, which supports academic and research exchange between TWAS members, TWAS Young Affiliates or Alumni, and institutions based in eligible developing countries. The programme provides selected participants with an opportunity to spend between two and four weeks at a host institution in an LDC.

The programme is aimed at strengthening cooperation between experienced scientists and research institutions that need greater access to specialised knowledge and international academic networks. During the visit, TWAS Fellows and eligible Young Affiliates or Alumni can contribute their expertise while engaging with researchers and academic teams at the host institution.

Participating institutions can also benefit from direct collaboration with scientists who have established research experience. The visits may support ongoing research activities, advanced training, knowledge exchange, and the development of stronger academic relationships that can continue beyond the fellowship period.

By connecting researchers with institutions in Least Developed Countries, the programme seeks to contribute to stronger local scientific capacity and more sustainable research partnerships. Qualified TWAS Fellows and TWAS Young Affiliates or Alumni interested in contributing to research and training activities in eligible LDC institutions are encouraged to review the programme requirements before submitting an application.
